How it works
Installing a retrofit smart lock like Level Bolt is simple.
- Remove your current deadbolt housings and bolt from the door
- Insert the Level Bolt
- Slide the motor onto the bolt
- Place the adapter in the center hole on the motor (don't worry, it comes with 3 adapters to find which matches your old lock)
- Re-install the housings, aligning the tailpiece with the adapter

What is a retrofit smart lock?
A retrofit smart lock is a device that you can add to your previously manufactured lock to make it smart without replacing or modifying the entire lock. Most retrofit smart locks attach to the deadbolt mechanism inside your house so they are not visible from outside of the door, while the Level Bolt fits inside of your existing deadbolt hardware so it's "invisible" from both sides of your door. You're also able to keep your house keys with a retrofit smart lock since it works with your existing external hardware and key cylinder.
Can you retrofit any deadbolt to be smart?
There are various retrofit smart locks on the market that may work with your lock. It's best to check with the manufacturer to determine if it will be compatible. For Level Bolt, check the compatible deadbolts list.
