Level Lock+ and Level Bolt were built to run on Matter before Matter even existed.

Because of this future-proof engineering, Level Lock+ and Level Bolt can be updated to use Matter-over-Thread without buying new hardware or requiring reinstallation.

With a simple over-the-air firmware update, your existing Level Lock+ and Level Bolt can now work with Matter-over-Thread enabled platforms like Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings.

It’s important to note that this firmware update is irreversible.

Before making the switch, ensure you have a compatible Matter-over-Thread hub controller at home. The controller must be connected to your home Wi-Fi network, and updated to the platform’s latest firmware.

What if I have a Level lock other than a Level Lock+ or Level Bolt?

All Level locks are hardware compatible with Matter, however our current firmware development efforts are focused on Lock+ and Bolt. We don't have a timetable for anything beyond that at this time. For those existing Touch customers eager to take advantage of Matter, we are offering $100 off Lock+ (Matter).

What if I’m not currently paired to the Level app?

The Matter firmware will be sent from within the Level App. If you operate your existing lock exclusively from outside the Level App today, you will have to:

  1. download the Level app,
  2. reset your lock to factory settings, and
  3. re-pair your lock to the Level Home app

Any future firmware updates can be delivered from the Level App or 3rd party platform app.

How long will it take for my request to process?

We have an individualized approach for each customer’s update, which takes time. Due to high demand, we’re exploring ways to scale and expedite the Matter update process, but please be aware that your request may not be fulfilled immediately. Thank you for your patience as we work to bring Matter to all who want it!

What can I do in the meantime?

Please make sure your lock firmware and Level app are both on the most up to date versions:

  • Lock firmware v2.29.0
  • iOS app v1.28.30
  • Android app v1.51.21

This is required to receive the update, and will expedite the process as we get to your spot in the queue. If your firmware and app are not updated, your request may be delayed.

How is my warranty impacted?

Your warranty will remain tied to your original purchase dates given there is no change to your hardware.
